CHAIRMAN’S MESSAGE MARCH 15, 2008

 

Let’s continue to look at the organizational structure for the park as defined in the constitution and bylaws.  Keep in mind that all positions are volunteer and elected positions are chosen by the parents or guardians of children that participate in park activities.

 

We looked a little at the individual sport organization and will now go over the administrative structure for the whole park.  The park is administered by an executive board that is elected by the parents and guardians of children that participate in sports at the park.  It starts with the president from each sport at the park; baseball, football, lacrosse, soccer, and softball.  If sports were to be added, the president from that sport would be added to the executive board.

 

Then there are administrative positions elected to coordinate park activities without ties to any specific sport or sports.  Here is the current list of positions and person elected to that position for the 2007/2008 year.

We often also include a past chairman in advisory capacity (non-voting) to help manage the park.  Jamie Rowden serves in that capacity this year.  Administrative positions are elected for a term that starts on July 1 ending on June 30 of the following year.  The bylaws require that the board administrative positions be voted on in elections held during the period between mid-April and Mid-May.

 

Sport presidents are elected during their primary season and serve until the following election.  That means that baseball, lacrosse, soccer, and softball officials will be elected during the 2007 spring season serving their term during the 2007 fall and 2008 spring seasons.  The football president will be elected in the fall of 2007 with a term than extends through the end of the 2008 season.

 

 

The bylaws also direct that we post information and signup sheets for eligible adults to run for any position in the park.  That includes both the administrative positions as well as those within each sport.
